Prayer As Intercession for Others

It is in the area of intercessory prayer that most Christians probably fail the worst, while talking about it the most.

Because when does prayer most often come up in conversations among Christians? Someone shares some need, big or small, and we say to them, “I’ll pray for you.” But do we usually, actually pray for each other? Do we consistently, fervently pray for others? And if we do at least pray for our family, close loved ones, and maybe other church members – do we give much thought to intercessory prayer outside our little circle?

As Paul spotlights for us in 1 Timothy 2:1, our prayers can easily become too small. The goal, then, with this message is to influence – perhaps even change, if need be – who we pray for, how we pray for them, and what we pray for them.
