Jeroboam: Obliterating the Cross

The Temple of God in Jerusalem was not a clever invention of Moses, David, or Solomon; it was modeled on the revelation God gave Moses on Mount Sinai.

The second reason that Jeroboam's sin is so serious is that it obliterates and obscures the Cross of Christ. The need for the sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice itself are presented to us as a parable in the Tabernacle and Temple. And human inventions obscure the truths that God wanted preserved intact.
