The Cult of Anti-Intellectualism

What is a vibrant Christian faith? Is it a firm grasp of the truth of the Gospel? Is it just something we experience? Is there any evidence for the faith or do we just believe irrationally? These questions are important. We have seen many movements and trends in the church over the last 2000 years that have swung the pendulum back and forth; often from one extreme to the other. From the time of the Enlightenment, we have seen that pendulum swing mightly from the side of truth to experience. Thanks to the largely unchallenged assaults of secular humanism, and in more recent times, neo-paganism, the American church has adopted an very anti-intellectual attitude. Dr. Fernandes examines this 'cult of anti-intellectualism', its origins, and the consequences it has had on the western church. Fernandes shows that true christianity is a mix of truth and experience. As the Scriptures say, we must worship God in spirit and in truth.
