How important is it that believers take the relationship of holiness and God's Word seriously? Dr. Josh Philpot shares that 1 Peter 1 and 2 presents an extended section of the relationship between holiness and the reception of God's Word. Within this same section, Peter quotes the command from the Old Testament, calling believers to be holy because God is holy. Peter talks about how obedience to the truth leads to a life of purity and love that comes from the living and enduring Word of God. He tells believers to long for the pure milk of the word that we need to grow in holiness. Dr. Philpot points out that James 1 also makes this same point saying that we are to be doers of the word and not hearers only. Dr. Philpot asks Dr. Richard Caldwell, how serious is this?
