Samson and Delilah

This account shows Samson's continuing sinful attraction to women, his extraordinary strength, and the efforts by which the Philistines captured him. God judged Samson's continual covenant breaking; he was captured by the Philistines and his eyes gouged out. Delilah's repeated and obvious attempts to snare Samson portray him as a fool. The Spirt of God left Samson after his hair had been cut, having remained with him through all earlier instances of covenant breaking. God was patient with Samson until the last stipulation of his vow had been broken; then God moved decisively to judge him.
