Jephthah's Tragic Vow

God enables Jephthah to assemble and deploy an army for Israel; Jephthah responds by seeking God's favor by making a drastic vow.

Jephthah returns home and his daughter comes out to meet him. Both father and daughter agree that such a vow cannot be broken.

The men of Ephraim, left out of the skirmish, are angered about not being included. Jephthah claims that Ephraim rejected his call for help, and then kills a significant number of the Jews of Ephraim.
