God's Eternal Purpose #67 The Roman Road to Salvation
Series God's Eternal Purpose
God's Eternal Purpose #67 The Roman Road to Salvation. Dr. James M. Phillips teaches the subject God's Eternal Purpose to his Areopagus Sunday School Class at Valley Baptist Church. Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:13. I want you to know that when I taught this class I had taken everyone else's word for it that the word Hamartia meant to miss the mark, not long after this I did research and found that Hamartia does not mean to miss the mark but to go out of the pathway. In Romans 3:23 are 2 words for Hamartia and astoxeo. Hamartia means to go astray and astoxeo means to miss the mark which even the great lexicons such as Thayer made this same mistake. They take the Hebrew word Chatha which means to miss the mark and bring it into Greek in the word hamartia which is incorrect. The Greek Word hamartia would find it's equivalent in the Hebrew word Amr which means to obstruct flow in a river and cause damage by causing the river to breaks it's banks and cause destruction.
