A Costly Road

Jesus did not come to bring peace but a sword. This means that sometimes even our own families we will have children who rise up against their parents. And not only will Christ not convert them but He will pit them against their own parents. Those who should love each other, sometimes are divided over the gospel. Sometimes the truth divides, and even in families. Not all children in Christian families will be converted. No matter how well we teach our children and never make a mistake, it does not guarantee the conversion of our children. It is part of the cost of discipleship to realize this. Jesus is telling us that He must be more important to us, even than our families, if we would be His disciple.
