Tens and ones

Ingratitude is a proud sin. Here we see ten men at a distance—lepers. Those ten men are crying out, seeking mercy. Those ten men are mercifully healed, given what they seek. But one man comes back and draws near, seeing in Jesus the Christ who blesses, and finds not just his body but his soul made whole. And one man is lifted up, adored as God and the one who shows mercy to need sinners—the Christ in whom we are to trust to be made truly well.
