The Scriptures available in one's own language is a precious possession: to be read, studied, obeyed, and loved. It is God's own revelation of Himself and therefore of the Gospel. One of the first matters to be dealt with when reforming the Church of the 16th century, was to obtain a faithful translation of the Scriptures in the language of the people:
