Caving in... the Daunting Pressures of People, Problems and the Misplaced Priorities

Failed Leadership...

Malachi message is God's Rebuke to the Corruption and Carelessness that manifested in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, which continued until the days of Malachi's burden.

God reminded the teachers, assigned to feed His people during the days of Ezra and Malachi, that they had contaminated the food, corrupted the covenant and called God into question on the reliability of His ways and will.

They had turned the table around on what God said was good and right, encouraged the people in their crookedness and blessed them in their wrong. Instead of feeding them truth and turning them from their iniquity, they poisoned the feed. It was totally opposite of what any legitimate farmer or servant of God would do.

So... God warns them and then reminds them of their calling.

"My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace; and I graciously gave life and peace to him that he might fear Me; so he did, by giving place and priority to Me, and he trembled before My name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with Me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. For the lips of My servant should have a steady supply of knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts" (Malachi 2:5-7).
