Of Locusts, Fire, and Plumb Lines

In Amos 7:1-17 we hear Amos relating the first three of five visions and an interlude of interruption. Vision 1: Amos sees a vision of locusts--The vision (v.1); Amos' intercession (v.2); and God's response (v.3). Vision 2: Amos sees a vision of fire--The vision (v.4); Amos' intercession (v.5); and God's response (v.6). Vision 3: Amos sees a vision of a plumb line--The vision (vs.7-8a); God's response (vs.8b-9). An interlude interrupts the visions: Amaziah objects (vs.10-13); and Amos responds (vs.14-17).
