"For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Romans 15:4

God gives an account of how He worked with His people over the ages. We see how He treated them. We see how they responded to Him. We see what He is like.

Chapters 1-11 tell the story of Solomon's rise to kingship in humility, as well as his demise for disobedience to God's command to not take wives from the surrounding nations. He was acclaimed for his wisdom, honored with the riches of others to build a temple for The God, and plummeted into sin and idolatry.

Chapters 12-14 tell of the nation of Israel's division into the northern and southern kingdoms. Cunning and intrigue plague the northern tribes and wandering hearts the southern tribes.

Chapters 17-22 recount the tale of Elijah's, Elisha's and Ahab's story. God's faithfulness stands firm.
