Growing in Prayer

The prayer of Abraham for the fate of Sodom has much instruction for the church today. True prayer is a response to the speaking of God; in the age of the church it is a response to the written word of God. As a friend called by God, Abraham was privileged to hear the plans and purposes of the Lord, and the Lord is interested in Abraham's response. Abraham does not so much plead for the destiny of Sodom as he pleads to understand and know the true character of God, whether the Lord would sweep away the righteous with the wicked.
