Everyone Who Has This Hope

15

This passage is people of grace living as people of grace. God's love is incomparably great. God's love is foreign to us. We love because things delight us. But God loves the unlovely. When God adopts a child into His household out of the world, the world no longer recognizes that one. Its like being dropped into a foreign country, and the people do not understand the language you are speaking. The world cannot understand us. John reassured us that we are God's children now. Perhaps we are having trouble believing that we are God's child now. The language of our hope is that everyone who has their hope fixed on Christ, will purify himself just as He is pure. We cannot be indifferent to sin. Any position of indifference on our part is an error. The Christian wants to be pure as His Lord. He will not practice sin. He will learn to practice righteousness.
