The Beauty of Christ that Destroys the Fear of Man

Whatever captures the love of our hearts controls the behavior of our lives. A man is what is in his heart, what he loves. True freedom is found by returning to the true gospel and beholding the beauty of Christ. Paul rebukes Peter publicly for his hypocrisy because he cares about the gospel and loves Peter and the people of Antioch. When Peter separated himself from the Gentiles because of fear of man, he was saying that they had to add some works to be children of God. This was dangerous because it was not the true gospel and Peter's hypocrisy was very infectious. Seeing the beauty of Christ alone will conquer the fear of man.
