Keeping The Lord's Day Tends to a Calm Frame of Mind

30

A right disposition towards the Lord's Day is indeed a major matter. It is a disposition that we need more than we need a list of things to do and not to do on Sunday. "Shared satisfaction" are key words to understand the biblical disposition towards the Lord's day, towards the Sabbath or Sabbath principle. God was satisfied with all He made in six days. It was from His point of view "very good"--perfectly satisfied is the idea. Before Adam fell, we are sure he too was quite satisfied. After the fall, redemption comes to the fore--not creation. So how satisfied is God the Father with Christ's redemptive work? Anything missing? Behold this is my Son in whom I am well pleased--really well pleased. He got everything from Jesus He could want from a human being. In Christ all he did belongs to you. Are you satisfied? Can you? Do you--rest in that which Christ accomplished for you? Possibly your church sings the song "Complete In Thee". Are you complete in Jesus? Has your faith found a resting place there in Christ's FINISHED WORK ? Take hints from Moses in Deuteronomy 5:12-15 what to think about on the Lord's day.
