Capital Punishment and the Sixth Commandment Part 1

This sermon begins a discussion on how the 6th commandment prescribes the prosecution of the sins God has deemed worth of death.

God clearly states what these sins are and they fall into 3 categories;
sins against the Image of God,
sins against the ordained Order of God,
sins against the Worship of God

These Laws as laid down by God a just as viable today as the were when written, and we are just as bound to them today as the Israelites were under Moses. Jesus came to fulfill the Law, not abolish it. History has shown us that every nation that has usurped the Law of God has crumbled.

Consider why the subjects of what crimes deserve death, and even the existence of a death penalty at all is so contentious. Could it be because God has already clearly identified capitol crimes and their consequences? Would unregenerate men deciding which of God's laws they should obey cause contention and unrest? What about the very idea that society can overrule God? How can we see the evolving evidence of that?

Much of this error has come from not understanding how God has designed nations to be ruled.
Do you think the Bible and politics are separate issues what does the Bible really say about that?
Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus has already ascended to that office and sits as King now. King and lord is a political office, not an ecclesiastical one. So, what place in our politics should the Word of God have? Could this be why we are in decline?
