The Piercing of Christ

What does it mean?

1. He is a man
2. That man is now dead
3. He is the fulfiller of prophecy even when dead ( Ex 12:46, Zech 12:10 )

Deeper significance to 'blood & water' ?

1. consider the blood - cleanses from sin's guilt
2. consider the water - removal of defilement

Apply the blood:

• in faith, appropriate
• 'They shall look on him they have pierced'
  • to be saved by Christ we must acknowledge that it was our sins that killed him
