This 'portrait' of Hezekiah has so many features that we need to take time to look at them carefully. As soon as he began to reign he began to reverse his father's disastrous policies. He began with the temple; he focussed first and foremost on the spiritual problem because he knew that all the other problems they faced as a people stemmed from this one! Reformation always does this. The 'filth' and 'uncleanness' (idolatrous objects and practices)that have gathered in the temple need to be thrown out. Getting back to God's template for worship and lifestyle is essential. So it's 'out with the new and in with the old' for Hezekiah!
