Seven (Deadly) Sins God Hates (and Virtues He Loves): Haughty Eyes. ( Sermon 1 of 7)

Proverbs 6:16-19 includes the listing of six sins that God hates, yes, seven that are an abomination to him. These differ from the Seven Deadly Sins popularized by Roman Catholic scholasticism. The Seven Deadly Sins are forbidden by Scripture in various places, but the inspired list of our study are found together and reveal hearts and inclinations contrary to the will of God. Importantly, the converse or obverse (depending how you look at it) of each of these sins is the positive demands or desires that God has for us as his people. In forbidding certain sins, he is showing his appreciation or desire for the opposite virtue.

This study will set the direction of our study by considering the first sin that God hates... a haughty look or proud eyes. We will see:

III. THE VIRTUE DESIRED BY THIS SIN
