Our Hope and Rich Inheritance

The Apostle Paul does not pray for the saints to be given hope or a rich inheritance for, as his opening doxology has made clear (1:3-14), those already belong to God’s people. However, though our eyes have been enlightened and the Holy Spirit provides wisdom, we grow in our understanding of the glorious realities of God’s gracious salvation. Thus, Paul prays that God’s people would fully “know” what is the hope of God’s calling and the riches of His inheritance among the saints.
