Keeping up With the Christians!
1) Text: “4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden.” (Galatians 6:4,5)

  1. Doctrine: The Saints of God must evaluate their own walk with the Lord first. We are called to be mature believers in Christ who bear our own Spiritual burdens, before we can help others. Each Man and Woman will stand before God and answer for their own Christian walk.

Reasons: Essential questions

  1. How can a Christian prove their work? (Acts 5:17-29) Key Verses-19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, 20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
  2. Can proving our work before God lead to rejoicing? (Acts 5:30-41) Key Verses- 40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
  3. In what ways will Christians bear their own burdens? (1 Peter 4:12-16) Key Verse- 16 Yet if [any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Application:

  1. It is not enough for the Child of God to be “the best of the worst”. (Remember Gamaliel)
  2. God’s children must cultivate the gifts that they have, without envying another s gifts. (1 Peter 4:7-11)
  3. Elders in the Church must not let those who are immature in the faith teach. (James 3:1)
