The Pride of Jacob

In Amos 6:1-14 we find God making two sweeping statements concerning Israel's present and future. Statement 1: Israel, you are prideful! (A) You are at ease and secure, acting as if My judgment is far away (vs. 1-3); (B) You are living decadent and lazy lives, abusing My blessings to you, while you ignore justice and righteousness (vs. 4-6, 12); (C) You are confident in your own strength and wisdom instead of trusting in Me (vs. 13, 1-3). Statement 2: Israel, I will judge you! (A) Why? Because I abhor your pride (vs. 7-8); and (B) To what extent? Completely, both rich and poor, border to border (vs. 9-11, 14).
