Having outlined the plan of salvation in Romans 3:21-26, in v. 27-31 Paul answers objections that his hypothetical Jewish debate opponent would have immediately raised. First, Paul states that the Jews have no grounds for boasting in their salvation since the works of the law are not the grounds of salvation. Paul states that though the Jews believe God is "their" God, He is, in fact, the God of all men. And finally, Paul answers the pressing objection that the Jews would have had . . . that the gospel Paul preached sought to nullify the law.
