Value of Heavenly Leadership

The Covenant Keeper... the leadership He requires and the mercy He shows when His anointed miss His mark.

These last words of a dying man minister to me... not just any man or any dying words but the words of a man who lived life with a zealousness FOR and AFTER the heart of his Shepherd and King. David declares:

"He who rules over men [for God] must be just, governing [and guiding men] in the fear of the God. And he shall be like the light shines on a cloudless morning when the sun rises, as the tender grass grows out the earth on a glistening morning after a night of rain" (2 Samuel 23:4)

I love this! What a revelation from the heart of a King that discerned what God demanded from His leaders and understood the eternal value of resting his failures, to meet those demand, upon God mercy and His faithfulness to keep what He promised. We, more than ever, desperately need stable and refreshing leaders across our vast landscape. We need them in our homes, churches, communities, schools and government.

I, along with the son of Jesse, so often fail in these areas of being righteous in my ways, radiant with joy, resourceful in my service and refreshing as the rain, and like David, I must admit that I also miss the mark on these God fearing principles but rest my life and leadership upon the integrity of His steadfast and unfailing mercy. David testifies,

"Although my house is NOT so with God, YET He has made with me and EVERLASTING covenant, a covenant ordain and secure in all that He promised. For this is all my salvation and hope [the shield of God's salvation 22:37]"
