This Psalm commemorates an important event in the life of ancient Israel, namely the return of the ark to Jerusalem (2 Sam 6). However, this Psalm also beholds the 'ascension' of the ark as a prophetic event that anticipates the ascension and reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.
