John 7 and 8 contain no new miracle. The purpose of John in these chapters is to show Christ at the crisis of His ministry. He has already been judged by the leadership in Jerusalem as a false teacher who needs to be eliminated. The people of Galilee and the people of Judea need to also be provoked into rejecting Him. This chapter (7) shows that Jesus came to promote His heavenly Father. Thus questions are asked and answered concerning His person.
