The Sin of Cowardice
Series The Gospel of Mark
100
Pilate was a coward. For all his convictions that Jesus was innocent, for all his attempts to release Jesus, in the end, when the rubber met the road, Pilate caved to the crowd and had Jesus crucified. Though he washed his hands and declared himself innocent, he is not innocent. He is guilty of handing Jesus over and He is guilty of cowardice and loving the approval of man rather than the approval of God. According to Rev. 21:8, cowards are thrown into hell. If you would be saved, you must be saved from your cowardice. Put another way, you must love the approval of God rather than the approval of man.
