Judgment on Egypt and Sodom, 2

159 ( 89 | 70 )

When we examine Revelation 8:3-5, we are reminded of Exodus 19:16-19, when the LORD came down on Mount Sinai.

Numbers 10:9 informs us one purpose of the Silver trumpets was calling on the LORD when Israel went into battle.

The First Trumpet of Revelation 8:7 reflects the Plague of Hail (# 7) recorded in Exodus 9:22-26.

The Second Trumpet of Revelation 8:8-9 picks up on the Plague of Blood (#1) found in Exodus 7:14-25, as does the Third Trumpet of Revelation 8:10-11 where the water cannot be drunk.

And Revelation 8:12 takes us back to the Plague of Darkness (#9) recorded in Exodus 10:21-23.

Picking up on last week's message, we see that Jerusalem is not only identified as Sodom, but also as Egypt in Revelation 11:7-8.

The trampling of the Holy City by the Gentiles takes us back to Luke 21:20-24, which in turn takes us back to Daniel 9:20-27 and Antiochus Epiphanes.

Who are these two witnesses from Zechariah 4:11-14?

Consider what miracles they perform in Revelation 11:2-6. Who was with the Lord Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration in Matthew 17:1-5? Who do Moses and Elijah represent? The Law and the Prophets. In other words the entire Hebrew Bible is a witness to the truth that Jesus is the Messiah, and the witnesses proclaim the truth from the Scriptures about Jesus.

Daniel's prophecy is reflected in the whole: three and a half years, 42 months, 1260, and the three and a half days are the intense time of persecution just before the Rapture (Revelation 11:11-12).
