Seek the Lord

Asa is declared in Scripture to be one of the good kings of Judah because he sought the Lord. He did this by radically cutting off idols and all foreign worship, keeping the law of God and the commandments, and worshipping the Lord in God’s appointed way. The fruit of his seeking the Lord was rest and peace even when a much greater army came against his army. Rest and peace are the covenanted promise of God to His people and their inheritance as they seek Him. Seeking the Lord is emphasized by the Chronicler in order that we as well as the returned exiles may learn not to forsake the Lord but rather to seek Him in everything.
