The trial before Pontius Pilate ends the same way the trial before the Sanhedrin ends: Jesus is found guilty, sentenced to death, and then mocked and physically abused. The conduct of Pilate's soldiers demonstrates that Pilate's claim of innocence in the crucifixion of Christ was hypocrisy.
