The City We Seek

"For here we have no lasting city, we seek the city which is to come." (Heb. 13:4) Christians are called to live and influence those around them with the gospel of Christ. The church as four options: 1. Oppose the City. 2. Ignore the City. 3. Embrace the City. 4. Enlighten the City. We should not show hatred, nor be militant toward the city; nor should we be separatists that disassociate with the city. Embracing the city's sins does neither party a service. Instead we should "enlighten" the city by making our lights shine before men (Matt. 5) as we live and proclaim the gospel. Our true city is eternal, heavenly, and future. We will one day be with our Lord with no more death, sickness, pain, or tears. Until then, we press on.
