While the world engages in shame-avoidance through retribution and reviling, Christians are to be unified, compassionate and humble (a quality not highly regarded in Greek or Roman society) while we engage in a proactive campaign for peace with others. Our motivation is not shame avoidance or the gaining of honor, but to please our God.
