Blessed Are the Meek

To be meek is to be gentle, patient under injustice, not quick-tempered or quick to defend our own rights. Thus, it also involves the idea of waiting on God, trusting Him to defend us and avenge us. While those who are violently self-protective may convince themselves that they ensure their own well-being, Jesus proclaims that those who trust God to do so are the ones who truly inherit the earth.
