Forgiving Father

Many of us have human fathers who were or are far from perfect. But we who are in Christ stand amazed in grace. Now we enjoy a relationship with our heavenly Father who is perfect in every way. God is a forgiving Father. If He kept a record of our wrongs, who could stand? No one. You who have a forgiving Father must forgive your father. Forgiving those who have hurt us is not natural. It is supernatural. It is not of human nature it is of the divine nature. Christians are partakers of the divine nature. We share something of God. Truly, 'to err is human, but to forgive is divine. ' (Alexander Pope). I pray that you, by His grace through faith, can lovingly echo and truly mean the words of Jesus on the cross, 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.' (Luke 23:24)
