Praying people

Luke guides us through the obedient return of the disciples to Jerusalem, a submission to Christ's will that might immediately seem underwhelming and anticlimactic.

He documents the gathered group—the eleven disciples, with the women, with Mary, with Jesus' brothers—as they wait in an upper room, an outwardly unimpressive group.

He records the earnest prayer in which they engage, persistent, united and sincere, as they call on the Lord for the blessings which he has promised.

Do we know and feel the value of such prayer in the light of the promises we have received and the blessings we anticipate?
