Everywhere Present

14

We live in a shrinking world. Through technological advances, we are able to reduce the time and distance. But we are unable to be two places at the same time. We are limited by time, space, and distance. But God is not limited! God is everywhere present at once in the totality of His being. He is here, there, everywhere and yet distinct from everything we see. The fallacy of pantheism teaches that God is everything and everything is God. But the God of the Bible created everything and is distinct from His creation. And yet He permeates every place so that in Him we live and move and have our being. David reflects on God's ever presence in Psalm 139. He concludes that there is no place for him to hide from God. He can't go north, south, east, west, up, down, light, or darkness. God is everywhere David goes. Such knowledge of God's presence has a profound effect on David as well as on you and I. Because God is ever present with us, we can have courage to face the challenges of life; comfort to endure the hardships; and contentment to accept what we have from God, the One who promised never to leave us nor forsake us. And we can be assured that the God who is present for us is also present with our loved ones who may be living hundreds of miles away. He's there with all of his resources and attention to help them meet the challenges of life.
