Scotland's Reformation: Phase Two

This phase of the Scottish Reformation is associated with the efforts to preserve the Reformation during what is known as the Covenanting period from 1638 to 1688. The efforts by King Charles I to restore rule by his bishops to the Church of Scotland met with fierce resistance and signaled the beginning of a 50 year struggle to see if Protestantism would remain established in Scotland.
