We Won't Win the World Using the World's Weapons
Series The Book of Joshua
The Church today seems to be convinced that the only way it can 'win the world for Christ' is by adopting the World's own weapons and methods. But what actually happens when we follow that methodology is that the church doesn't win the world, rather we become what Gene Veith rightly calls 'liberal conservatives' and the church gradually becomes more and more worldly.
Joshua knew better, that is why he obeyed the Lord's command to hamstring the Canaanite Horses and burn their chariots
A leader following the modern worldy approach might have objected - “No God, you don't understand. We can take those chariots and horses and we can use them against the Canaanites. We need them to finish the conquest!”
But you see in doing that, he would have switched to the worldview of the Canaanites. Trusting in horses, and chariots, and above all their own wisdom. We like Joshua, need to trust the Lord's weapons and stop doing what is right in our own eyes.
