Patience Through The Blessed Hope

80

atience Through The Blessed Hope

The text is: James 5: 7-11

James is addresses true believers with words of encouragement.

The first word of encouragement is an exhortation to be patient.

There is the recognition that in every Christian life….there are very hard times…there is very deep suffering.

The words that follow tell us how we are to be patient.
The apostle instructs the believer to…. 'Look ahead'

Patience will be the by product of this looking ahead.7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord

In verse 8, we are told that the coming of he Lord is near.

2 Cur 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

When we seriously consider eternal glory….the suffering seems momentary and light.

James gives us an example of this patience that he is encouraging us to have…..James 5: 7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains.

James also in verse 9…..in looking forward to
