11. Laodicea: Yuck!

Laodicea -- the lukewarm church. This church gets the most attention in sermons preached from Revelation 2-3. But it is probably the most misunderstood and mis-preached passage as well. For example, many preachers say that we need to be spiritually hot, but to be cold or lukewarm is bad. But Jesus actually says he wishes the church at Laodicea were either cold or hot. So to Jesus, cold water is a good thing. How does this apply to us? And did you know the sheep at Laodicea were all black? That gives significance to Christ's command for them to buy white raiment.
