2 Chronicles 28 has nothing good to say about Ahaz. He looked for help in his lifetime in all the wrong places, so he got none - innovative idolatry, the king of Assyria, the gods of Syria. The only sure source of help, God, he didn't go to. Deliberate disobedience brings moral and spiritual weakness, an increasing lack of discernment and a spiritual anaesthesia against the more shocking elements of sin.
