- Quibbling is a feature of truth avoidance. Men who do not want the truth tend to find fault - the apostle's necessary self-defence in the cause of truth.
- A true message of a truthful God v18. The truth which the apostle declared was as reliable as God himself.
- All the promises of God in Christ are sure v20. God's truth secures our preservation as believers. Both the facts of the gospel and its truthfulness glorify God.
