What Might I do to Gain Eternal Life?

When the rich, young, ruler asked what good thing he needed to do to have eternal life, Jesus showed him that he deceived himself by thinking he could do anything to earn salvation. Jesus taught that he was incapable of doing anything, that "with man, this (salvation) is impossible, but with God, all things are possible."
