Dissension as David Resumes His Reign
Series Survey of 2 Samuel
333
God continues His faithfulness to His chosen people, the nation of Israel. He will never change His plans for them or fail to keep all His promises to them, no matter how stubborn and rebellious they are.
The difficulty in David's life continued as he had to put aside his personal grief and pick up his kingdom responsibilities, after the rebellion and attempted assasination by his son Absalom. After the death of Absalom, he had to focus on solidifying his rule over the kingdom again.
Even, as these events unfold, there are hints of division festering between the twelve tribes.
Lessons from this study include:
- Sometimes duty & responsibility calls for putting aside personal grief and feelings.
- True friends prove themselves in trying times.
- Our selfish ambition and wounded pride creates conflict.
- Worthless men can create havoc among God's people.
- A wise person's counsel can prevent much damage.
