Why does it matter whether you muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain? The point is not primarily about oxen (see 1 Cor 9:9). The point has to do with the general principle that the laborer is worthy of his hire – whether you are dealing with an ox – or a man.
It is particularly interesting that Deuteronomy 25:4 follows a lengthy discussion of widows and orphans. 1 Timothy 5 will also move from widows and orphans to the principle that the laborer is worthy of his hire...
