The Resurrection of Dead Hope

41

Aim: To lay our dead hopes before the living Christ.

Doctrine: Dead hope is raised in the Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone struggles with some ''hopeless'' heartache, but God is able to redeem it.

Exegesis: How we move from dead hope to the living Savior: first, by bringing our souls to the empty tomb (vv. 1-4); then, by hearing the gospel of the risen Lord (vv. 5-7); finally, by speaking of the victorious Redeemer to others (vv. 8-12).

Further application: What is necessary to raise dead hope: a powerful God that conquers death (in Christ), and the exercise of faith, which is the privilege of all justified churchmen.

Key verses: vv. 1-2 ''Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.''
