Raising Children God's Way

Aim: To be courageously faithful to God, even with our dearest loved ones.

Abraham's unique qualifications: he is the father of our faith, and he was pleasing to God.

Exegesis: Spiritual principles for child-rearing: offer your children to God (vv. 9-10); show your children your faith (vv. 11-12); bring your children to the cross (vv. 13-14); bequeath gospel to your children (vv. 15-19).

Further application: The requirements for godly parenting: we must have real faith and we must be serious about our profession.

Key verse: v. 9 ''Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built and altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.''
