Zacharias Prophecy

After praising the Lord for His covenant faithfulness, Zacharias prophesies concerning his son John. He reiterates Gabriel's words & anchors John's ministry to the prophecy of Malachi. Zacharias then prophesies concerning Jesus. Why is the Messiah come? Because our God is full of tender mercy & is faithful to bring His people into the light & peace of His covenant love. Luke gives us an overview of John's childhood as he awaited the time of his public ministry. Zacharias gives us a commendable example of repentance: even after we've sinned, the Lord can yet use us! We should discern what Zacharias tells us about the heart of God: He is full of tender mercy.
